World number three Dominic Thiem has won an epic five set clash with home player Nick Kyrgios at the Australian Open.
Kyrgios took a two set lead before being reeled in 4-6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 by Thiem.
In both the fourth and fifth sets, Kyrgios was able to go toe-to-toe with Thiem on serve, before finally cracking.
Thiem eventually matched his feat from the US Open final, coming back from two sets down to claim an epic battle.
This is the second time Kyrgios has lost a match at the Australian Open from two sets up.
Thiem will face Grigor Dimitrov in the fourth round.
Earlier, there were wins for Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka.
World number one Novak Djokovic is two sets to love up against Taylor Fritz of the United States.
The tournament will continue despite a five day circuit breaker lockdown in Melbourne.
“Good luck to him, I hope he does well because he’s a hell of a player”
