One young man from Inistioge, Co. Kilkenny, will be getting a taste of the Premier League this coming Monday as a mascot for Arsenal’s hosting of Manchester City.
Ewan Gilsenan (10) been an Arsenal fan “around four years” and while dad John is a West Ham fan, they’ll all be supporting the Gunners this coming Monday night as their title rivals in London for some serious Monday Night Football.
When KCLR Breakfast’s John Walsh asked Ewan what attracted him to Arsenal in the first place he says he had Cesc Fabregas to thank, but now he likes “Alexis Sanchez, and Giroud but he doesn’t really have a (particular favourite) one”.
“A few of them are injured, Giroud is the only stiker we’ve got at the moment and with Ozil, I think he’s a good player but he’s not unreal – he’s not as good as we thought he’d be.”
“I didn’t really have to do anything but I’m a junior member at Arsenal. I got picked out of a hat and my dad didn’t even know at the time I was being picked out of a hat. The news came as a big surprise to me as I didn’t even know I was in the draw.”

Ewan will spend a few hours pre-match getting a look around the stadium, meeting players and getting autographs before leading the side out (and leading the handshake) when the sides take to the pitch at 8pm.
Both sides are in a good run of form at the minute, Arsenal coming off the back of three straight wins including their great escape in the Champions League against Olympiakos while City have had a good run of home form but they’ve two losses in their last two games on the road including a 2-0 reverse against Stoke. With just a point between them, a positive result – coupled with a Leicester loss – could have either side sitting top of the table heading into Christmas.
