Ireland’s Rugby World Cup Pool Fixtures Announced

World Rugby and the tournament’s organising committee has unveiled the rugby world cup fixtures today.

Ireland get their 2023 campaign up and running against Europe Qualifier 2 in Bordeaux on Saturday 9th September.

Although it won’t be known until closer to the tournament who Ireland’s opening opposition will be although it could be Russia who Ireland faced at both the 2019 and 2011 tournaments.

On Saturday, September 16th then they take on Asia-Pacific 1 in Nantes.

Fiji has already qualified for the tournament meaning that it could be Samoa who Ireland faced in the 2019 rugby world cup or even Tonga.

The team has a week’s break then before the huge game against World champions South Africa at the Stade de France in Paris on Saturday the 23rd of September.

Two weeks later at the Stade de France Ireland plays their final pool game against Scotland on Saturday 7th October.

Earlier this month it was announced that the pool phase will be extended by a week to ensure that all teams will have a minimum of five rest days for all matches.
