Kilkenny man Mark Power has been named on the Walker Cup team for this year’s championship.

He’s one of two Irish golfers to be selected and joins up with Cork man John Murphy as part of the British and Irish team who play the USA in Florida on the 8th and 9th of May.

The team is looking to get the better of the Americans who won the last tournament in Liverpool two years ago.

“The Walker Cup is the pinnacle of the amateur game for these players and we are delighted that they will have the opportunity to compete against their counterparts from the USA at Seminole,” said Stuart Wilson, GB&I captain.

“It gives them the opportunity to display their exceptional talent and will provide a lifetime of memories” he added.
