Former Kilkenny hurler Eoin Larkin will meet the Wicklow hurlers for the first time next Tuesday as he starts his new coaching job with the side.

The James Stephens man joins Eamonn Scallan’s set up ahead of the National League and will also manage the Ballinkillen hurlers later in the year.

Speaking to KCLR, Eoin says he and the players can’t wait to get back out at it.

“With the intercounty opening up first, It’s going to make it easier on me to go down more than I probably would have been and get a handle on things,” said Larkin.

“I’m really looking forward to going down and meeting the lads on Tuesday night when we open back up and see where we go from there”.

Returning to play

“You know as a hurling man first and foremost you just want games to come back and come back as safe as possible”.

“We’re looking forward to getting going and before it was announced last Friday (his role) I was in touch with Eamonn a good bit and they have been doing bits and pieces in their own while they can, they’re all looking forward to getting back,” said Eoin.

What he wants to achieve

“My aim is to go down and try and improve them a small bit and see where they can go”.

“We have four or five league games before the championship kicks in and if we can improve them in the amount of time we have you know we have a great chance” he added.
