22-year-old Kilkenny trainer Donnacha O’Brien will bid to win his first Irish Classic on Sunday when Shale takes her in chance in the Tattersalls Irish 1000 Guineas at the Curragh.
Shale was Donnacha’s first domestic Group One winner last year when she won the Moyglare Stud Stakes at The Curragh.
Donnacha, brother of Joseph O’Brien says Shale is in great form and he thinks she will come on for her opening run of the season in Leopardstown.
“Yep, she’s in good form and we always knew that she’d need that run and I thought it was a very satisfactory first run,” said Donnacha.
“She’s in good form, her work is good, she’s improved plenty for her first run and the first thing Ryan said to me when he got off her in Leopardstown, it’s ten furlongs as well, so that will leave us with plenty of options,” he added.
