Crowds are expected to return to Croke Park after the August Bank Holiday weekend.
Up to 5,000 spectators are set to be permitted at large outdoor venues following roadmap recommendations from NPHET.
For smaller venues, up to 25% of capacity will be allowed, or 5,000 – whichever figure is lower.
The Cabinet will consider the recommendations today (Friday).
Minister Eamon Ryan is optimistic that the figure of 5,000 could be revised upwards for the All Ireland finals if there is progress during the easing of restrictions.
“I’ll be honest, if things keep going the way they’re going, I would expect even those numbers that are being announced in terms of what can be staged in August, if we keep managing things in June and July, and we don’t see a spike and we don’t see new concerns, that won’t be the limit of our ambition, I think that we’ll actually see larger numbers,” said Minister Ryan.
The next round of easing of restrictions is from the 7th of June.
In terms of sport, they are:
- Outdoor sports matches can recommence. No spectators are permitted
- Gyms, swimming pools, leisure centres can reopen for individual training only
