Old Leighlin Ladies captain Anne Roche says their win in the first round of the Leinster Intermediate club championship gave them the belief that they could compete at that level.
They’re in the 2020 Leinster final on Wednesday night against Wicklow’s Tinahely from 7 o clock.
The local ladies beat Shelmaliers of Wexford, Shanahoe of Laois, and Dunshaughlin Royal Gaels of Meath on their way to the final but Anne says it started in that first round game.
“And then heading up to Dunshaughlin, they’re a Meath team, they were going to be good, and they were, and it was such a battle that match was,” said Anne.
“We qualified then for the Leinster final and what a feeling, it was so surreal, but I think it kind of started at that Shelmaliers game”.
“We performed so well, and it really just sparked that belief that we could do this” she added.
The game will be streamed live on the Leinster LGFA Facebook page from 7pm on Wednesday 23rd from Baltinglass GAA Club.
