Carlow Senior Football manager Turlough O’Brien says the idea of confining a newly proposed All-Ireland B Championship to Division 4 Teams is totally unjust and poorly thought out.
The motion of a new look B Championship will go before Congress next month which takes place in the Mount Wolseley Hotel in Tullow, but speaking to KCLR earlier, Turlough says that Division 4 Teams are capable of defeating teams higher ranked than themselves.
It’s flawed in its thinking, if they want a secondary competition, the competition should be confined to those beaten in the championship in that particular year.
It shouldn’t be confined to Division 4 teams, because a Division 4 team could be a team higher ranked than themselves.
To condemn just eight Division 4 teams to it is just totally unjust, and I think its very very poorly thought out.
Meanwhile Carlow Footballer Daniel St Ledger has expressed his opposition to the plans.
He’s reported to have said thats they have a blueprint for failure there from the last time there was the Tommy Murphy Cup, that theres no end goal in this proposal and no way back into the qualifiers.
