Former European Tour player and current Carlow golf pro-Damien McGrane says the Irish players will be under pressure this week in the Irish Open.
Damien played on the European Tour for many years and has plenty of experience of the occasion.
The Pro-Am takes place today (Wednesday) ahead of the start of the competition tomorrow.
Damien says the players love playing at home:
“You know the Irish Open is very lucrative as well, the prize fund is solid,” said Damien.
“I was talking to Shane (Lowry) and Padraig (Harrington), they’re always energised by playing the Irish Open in front of the home fans and you know it really brings the best out in them”.
“They probably will over try, like they do every year and if you over try in sport, generally it doesn’t work out” he added.
