Preview – Tullaroan hoping Grace Walsh will be fit for All Ireland Intermediate Semi Final

Tullaroan Intermediate Camogie side is busy getting ready for their All Ireland Semi Final this Sunday against Cahir.

Grace Walsh they’re hoping will be fit in time for the game after undergoing a procedure on her knee earlier this month.

Tullaroan go in search of a place in the All-Ireland Camogie Intermediate Club Final as they play the Munster Champions Cahir in Sunday’s All-Ireland Semi-Final in Freshford.

The Tullaroan ladies have been threatening to make the Intermediate breakthrough in recent years, and following County Final defeats in 2011 and 2012, Tullaroan prevailed when defeating Rower-Inistioge after a replay in October.

Extra-time couldn’t separate them in a pulsating drawn encounter with the sides drawing level at 2-12 to 1-15.

However, Tullaroan prevailed in the replay as they won 1-12 to 2-4.

In the Leinster Championship Semi-Final, Tullaroan ran riot during the second-half as they easily defeated St. Vincents 3-11 to 1-3 having only led by a point at half-time(1-3 to 1-2).

That set-up a Leinster Final showdown with Myshall, and on a horrible winter’s afternoon, Tullaroan came out on top in a low scoring encounter 0-8 to 1-4.

Cahir have been a busy outfit combining both Camogie and Ladies Football in recent months and both teams have enjoyed Munster success.

Featuring a team mainly made up of Minors, Cahir were highly impressive in accounting for Lismore in the Munster Intermediate Club Final.

Lismore are a highly experienced outfit who reached the last two Club All-Ireland Finals against Ballyhale Shamrocks and Piltown respectively, while also featuring a number of the Waterford Team who won the Intermediate All-Ireland last September.

However, Cahir defied the odds and won 2-10 to 0-8.

Most of the Cahir squad have experienced All-Ireland success when they won the Division One Feile back in 2011, and certainly in the Munster Final, against an experienced team, they were in no fazed by the opposition.

The Tipp girls reached the All-Ireland Ladies Intermediate Football Final in early December against Milltown of Westmeath, and their brave fightback to come back from a 10 point deficit in the last 10 minutes just came up short as they lost out 2-14 to 2-12.

Throw-in in Freshford on Sunday is at 2pm, while Thomastown’s Liz Dempsey will referee the other semi-final between Eglsih (Tyrone) and Eyrecourt(Galway) in Kineggad.

The All-Ireland Intermediate and Senior Club Finals will form a double header in Croke Park on Sunday 6th March.
