Cork’s Orla Cronin has been cleared to start in today’s All-Ireland senior camogie championship final against Galway.

The Enniskeane clubwoman was shown a straight red card late in Cork’s semi-final win over Kilkenny last month.

Per an official release issued to Scoreline;

“An appeal was lodged with the Disputes Resolution Authority (DRA) by Cork player Orla Cronin against the decisions of the Camogie Association’s disciplinary process, following a red card in the All Ireland semi-final.”

“An emergency DRA interim hearing took place on Saturday evening (11th September).”

“The DRA has made no finding on the substantive appeal but has granted Orla interim relief to participate in the All Ireland Final today, Sunday 12th September.”

Whether the ban will be enforced for next season remains to be seen as Cronin was initially set to serve a three game suspension for the sending off.

Cronin’s ban was originally upheld by the camogie association but in taking the case to the DRA, an “interim order staying the period of suspension” was granted, pending a full tribunal hearing.

The O’Duffy Cup gets a new home today as Cork and Galway go head to head in Croke Park at 4.15pm.

Ahead of that game, we’ll be broadcasting Kilkenny’s intermediate All-Ireland final against Antrim, throwing in at 2pm.
