The Joseph O’Brien trained Visualisation made all the running to win the featured Edmund & Josie Whelan Memorial Listed Race at Listowel yesterday.
Kilkenny-based trainer and jockey Declan McDonogh was on board and said the horse loved the ground.
“He was very good from the gates today, it’s a tricky draw here, and he showed plenty of pace and got across,” said Declan.
“I was able to fill him then from the four down to the two (furlong marks) and then at the two I gave him a kicking, he stayed going well.”.
Speaking about the ground conditions, Declan said: “It’s soft, he loves soft ground, Joseph (O’Brien) said to me on the phone, make him come and get you, he stays well and genuinely got on well, at Ascot he finished second, so I was positive from the two to make them come and get me” he added.
The Kerry National is the feature on day four of the Harvest Festival at Listowel.
That’s due to go to post at 4.25 pm today (Wednesday) and is part of an eight-race card that commences at 1.40 pm.
