Formula One has confirmed that there will be a Grand Prix in Qatar this November.

The winter race will go ahead at Losail International Circuit and will replace the vacant Australian Grand Prix in the 2021 season.

F1 announced the news on Twitter: “F1 will race in Qatar for the first time on November 19-21. Qatar will also join the F1 calendar in a 10-year deal from 2023.”

The addition of the Qatar Grand Prix to the end of what has been an exciting F1 season will see the last three races be held in the Middle East.

Following the new Grand Prix just outside Qatar’s capital Doha, the Formula One season will conclude with races in Saudi Arabia on December 5 and Abu Dhabi on December 12.

World champion Lewis Hamilton holds a five-point lead over title rival and Red Bull driver Max Verstappen as the 22-race season’s dramatic climax is just around the corner.

The Qatar Grand Prix will become a permanent fixture on the F1 calendar from 2023 for 10 years and joins Miami as a new race for Formula One fans to look forward to.
