Mary Murphy and Mags Duggan from Kilkenny Golf Club won the Granard Cup at the weekend in Balbriggan Golf Club in Dublin.
They were part of teams from nine different cups competing for the title but also for a trip of a lifetime to St Andrew’s.
The Granard Cup (women) and HolmPatrick Cup (men) are the longest-running and largest charity golf tournaments in Ireland.
It’s now in its 90th year having started in 1932, it is named after Edina Conyngham, Baroness HolmPatrick, who donated the trophy to NCBI at its inauguration.
The Baroness was a granddaughter of the Duke of Wellington. The tournament is a well-established highlight in the calendar of golf clubs around the country.
J.J Kelly and Fergus Rothwell from Mulranny Golf Club took the HolmPatrick cup for the men.
