It was a mixed weekend for the local basketball teams as the action got underway in the leagues for this season.
On Sunday Singleton Supervalu Brunell won 81-54 at IT Carlow in the MissQuote.ie Super League.
Brunell’s Shannon Ryan led their scoring with 18 points, with Katie Walsh draining 13.
American Alyssa Velles topped the scoring charts for IT Carlow Basketball with 18, with Kilkenny’s Lucy Coogan getting 16.
In the InsureMyVan.ie Division 1, IT Carlow beat the WIT Vikings 89-59.
Marble City Hawks came up short against the NUIG Mystics on Sunday when they were beaten 31-64 at home in the MissQuote.ie Division 1.
