Kilkenny GAA have announced that tickets for healthcare workers wishing to attend this Sunday’s senior county hurling final will be free of charge.

In a joint venture with county sponsor UPMC, the offer of free tickets to this Sunday’s final is being made as a thank you to healthcare workers who served the community through the pandemic.

County chairperson Jimmy Walsh was keen to recognise the role that healthcare workers have played in making sure this year’s finals happen in front of crowds.

“Everyone in Kilkenny GAA acknowledges the sacrifice our healthcare workers have made for the wider community over the past 20 months,” he said.

“We are delighted to partner with UPMC and offer them free entry to the senior hurling county final on Sunday in UPMC Nowlan Park.

“It goes without saying that everyone in Kilkenny is excited to have live finals back in the home of hurling, and this in a large part is down to the trojan work of our healthcare workers,” he added.

“To that end, and recognising their role in opening society, we look forward to seeing them there on Sunday. It is important to note that all our games take place within public health guidelines.”

How do I get my free tickets?

To receive free entry to the match, per Kilkenny GAA, healthcare workers are asked to email [email protected] with their details of where they work and their phone number.

Tickets will then be issued to the healthcare workers ahead of the game.

O’Loughlin Gaels v Shamrocks Ballyhale takes place at UPMC Nowlan Park this Sunday from 1.30pm. We’ll have full coverage of the game on air, online and in app with Adrian Ronan and Michael Walsh calling the action, all with thanks to Gerry Comerford Drilling Ltd.
