Former Republic of Ireland international Damien Duff will be officially announced as the new Shelbourne manager on Wednesday.

Ian Morris vacated the position on Friday following a successful season in which the Dublin outfit sealed promotion back to the SSE Airtricity Premier Division.

Duff looks set to replace Morris with Shamrock Rovers defender Joey O’Brien widely tipped to join the former Blackburn Rovers and Chelsea winger at Shels.

The move will see Duff become a manager for the first time having previously held coaching roles with Neil Lennon’s Celtic side as well as being part of Stephen Kenny’s coaching set up with the Irish senior team before prematurely stepping away in January.

He has also held positions with the Celtic reserves and filled underage roles with Ireland and Shamrock Rovers respectively.

An announcement is expected to confirm Duff as the new manager at 12pm today.
