Sergio Aguero has batted away suggestions that he will be forced into retirement due to a heart condition that has left him sidelined for three months.

The Argentinian was substituted during Barcelona’s 1-1 draw at home to Alaves in October due to dizziness and chest pains.

Following the incident, the Catalan giants insisted that Aguero’s health would be monitored in the coming months “in order to determine his recovery process.”

Despite reports that he may retire due to the severity of his condition, the former Manchester City and Atletico Madrid player has confirmed that there are no immediate plans to end his glittering plying career.

On Friday Aguero tweeted: “Given the rumours, I say of them that I am following the indications of the club’s doctors, doing tests and treatment and seeing my progress within 90 days. Always positive.”

Aguero was taken to hospital as a result of his problems and former manager Pep Guardiola has sent his best wishes to City’s record goalscorer in the Premier League era.

Guardiola said: “We wish him well from all the people here at Manchester City, from the chairman (down).

“We wish him a safe recovery. The time doesn’t matter. Health and life are much more important than anything else.”
