Mooncoin made sure to follow the example set by their camogie champions on Saturday by
wrapping up the Kilkenny junior hurling championship on Sunday afternoon.
Trailing from the off, Mooncoin turned things around with a dominant second-half showing to beat Tullogher Rosbercon 3-19 to 3-11.
Manager James Maher says that despite a shaky start, his side grew throughout the game to secure the win.
“They got a great start, think the first quarter could have been 1-6- to 0-03 down after 15 (minutes) and you’re there wondering, please, you have to dig in, you have to win that ball that you shouldn’t be able to win,” said James.
“The big thing for us is that first quarter is that we were 6-1 down in breaks, we were ate alive in the middle third and we spoke to them about it, we tried to crowd it out, put them under a bit of pressure but from the second quarter on they were immense”.
“I’m just so proud of every single one of them”.
Meanwhile, Glenmore will play at senior level in Kilkenny for 2022.
They defeated St. Lachtains in the Intermediate final 3-19 to 2-9 with Eoin Murphy named KCLR’s Man of the Match.
