Tadhg Furlong has put pen to paper on a new three-year deal with the IRFU that will bring him up to the end of the 2024/24 season.

The Leinster prop earned his 50th cap in the recent November Series clash with Japan and starred for Ireland in their three victories this month against the 2019 World Cup hosts, New Zealand and Argentina.

The 29-year old has also been a mainstay for Warren Gatland’s Lions side over the course of the last two tours to face the All Blacks and world champions South Africa. Furlong started in all six of those tests.

The Wexford man has made 116 appearances for Leinster where he has won a Champions Cup and four league titles with the province.

“November was a really positive block for the Ireland squad and it was great to have supporters back in the stadium,” Furlong said. “Ireland and Leinster have started the season well and both squads will be aiming for silverware again this season.”

IRFU performance director David Nucifora added: “Tadhg has again illustrated his pedigree as one of the best tightheads in world rugby. His performances for Ireland and the British and Irish Lions in the past year have been top drawer and we are delighted that he has extended his contract to the end of the 2024/25 season.”
