At 17-years-old, Kilkenny’s Ellen Molloy is strengthening her case for this year’s young player of the season award.
The Wexford Youths playmaker has been named Women’s National League Player of the Month for November.
Molloy capped off a real breakout season with the Youths by helping her side to a 3-1 win over Shelbourne in the FAI Women’s Cup Final. Having a hand in all three goals, the Kilkenny teenager was duly named Player of the Match.
She’s found the back of the net on 14 occasions for Wexford this year, adding a handful to her international account with Ireland’s under 19s.
Molloy had been due to link up with Vera Pauw’s senior squad last week for games against Slovakia (Thursday) and Georgia (tonight) but picked up a hamstring injury in the closing minutes of the cup final in Tallaght.
“It was a great season, especially capping it off with the Cup. I think we were a bit disappointed that we didn’t challenge for the title a bit more towards the end but a great season overall,” said Molloy.
Leanne Sheill, marketing manager for SSE (as first-year league sponsors) added her own plaudits on the news.

Molloy finished ahead of club-mate Kylie Murphy and Shelbourne midfielder Ciara Grant in the voting for November’s award.
