The 2021 PWC Hurling All-Stars have been announced with Kilkenny’s Eoin Murphy named as All-Star goalkeeper.

The Glenmore man picks up his third All-Star having won previously in 2016 and 2018. His win marks the 189th All-Star given to a Kilkenny hurler since the awards began in 1971.

It’s a history-making team for 2021 – Limerick’s record-breaking haul of 12 awards is the first time in 50 of the All-Stars years that a county has reached double figures in the final selection.

It’s also the first time an All-Ireland runner up has failed to secure an award with Cork left out entirely.

Limerick had secured nine awards in the 2020 selection to equal the record set by Kilkenny in 1983 and matched again in 2000 and 2008. Seán Finn moves into rare territory, the Limerick defender picking up his fourth consecutive All-Star award at just 25 years old.

Waterford defender Conor Prunty and Clare’s Tony Kelly complete the lineup.

Kilkenny’s Eoin Cody is nominated for Young Player of the Year for a second year running with a special ceremony to be held in Dublin tomorrow night.
