IT Carlow got their 2022 Sigerson Cup competition underway on Tuesday evening.
Leading 1-04 to 0-04 points at halftime, IT Carlow let their grip on the game slip with a late Keelan McGroddy goal helping edge the game 1-13 to 1-11 in Letterkenny’s favour.
The local students will be looking to bounce back next week at home to Sligo IT.
That game is penciled in for Tuesday 18 January at 7 pm.
The finals of this year’s higher education hurling and football championships will be held at IT Carlow’s new sports campus at the end of February.
Hard luck to our Sigerson Cup team who had victory snatched out of their hands with a really late rally by LYIT. Final score 1.13 to 1.11. Looking like we host Sligo IT in carlow next week with both team looking to get back to winning ways in Rd 2. @HigherEdGAA @ElectricIreland
