Did you know that our camogie podcast is back?

Yes, season two of Caman Caint dropped last night with the dynamic duo of Martin Quilty and Áine Fahey looking ahead to the start of the 2022 camogie leagues.

They spoke with Kilkenny Senior Camogie manager Brian Dowling to find out if we can expect any Twitter retirements from the squad ahead of the league opener with Limerick.

“There is no official announcement. There are one or two players who haven’t fully decided yet We have nearly everyone back from last year. We have Julianne Malone from Australia. She has a lot of experience, she is a great addition with a great attitude. We are looking forward to seeing what she can offer the team during the league. “

Kilkenny are defending their league crown after besting Galway in last years league final, 1-18 to 1-15. Standing in their way of making the finals this year are, of course, Limerick, but also Clare and Cork with the latter two games being away ties.

Dowling shopping to use the group 2 games to experiment as he believes the league is a prime an opportunity for players to prove themselves;

We tried out a lot of players last year. We had a lot of new faces in and we ended up winning it. the aim is to find players and obviously, we are going to try to win every game we can.”

“At the same time, it’s not about putting out the same side every single week. It is to try different people and give new girls a proper chance. “
