Kilkenny come away today with 2 points from Nowlan Park on a scoreline of 3-9 2-15.

Antrim were quick out of the traps, scoring 1-1 in the first five minutes without a reply from Kilkenny.

The full-forward line for the Glen County were looking very dangerous in the first quarter but gradually lost their grip on the game.

Antrim tried to play a short game but it was counterproductive in wet conditions in Kilkenny GAA HQ.

It took Kilkenny until the 10th minute to catch up with the rhythm of the game.

It was all level at half time with 1-6 apiece for each county.

Careless play

The second half had a similar pattern to the first half with a lot of careless play and a significant amount of wides.

Kilkenny had most of the possession but weren’t converting those to scores.

Mossy Keown got his second goal of the day after 44 minutes earning him man of the match.

By the 3rd quarter, Kilkenny thought they were home and dry but a goal from Neil McManus, brought it back to a 2 point game after some poor defending from Kilkenny.

Antrim will take positives from this game, although there is still a huge amount for them to work on, particulary where their shooting is concerned.

Final score, Antrim 3-09, Kilkenny 2-15.
