If you have been to an intercounty game recently you would be well aware that the events are an All ticketed affair.
It’s been a point of much contention for fans in recent times, gone are the days you can rock up with cash on the day.
Carlow GAA chairman Jim Bolger was speaking to Eimear Ni Brahion on KCLR Live earlier and believes despite some issues, the new system works.
“The reason behind this is to make us more efficient and effective. Like any new system being introduced, there are teething issues. When things work it is great.”
“We had system failures recently and we were proactive, we contacted Croke Park through our PRO. We highlighted the issues. “
“We do not want to disenfranchise any cohort of our supporters and make it difficult for people. We want to encourage people to come to matches and make sure there are no impediments. “
“There is bedding in period for any new system and that is the case here with us, but for the most part, it worked very well.”

Eimear also contacted the GAA who responded to us with the following :
“The GAA has moved to a system of all-ticket access to its inter-county matches and tickets must be purchased in advance of arrival at the match venue.”
“Tickets are available to purchase on-line or alternatively in-store in one of the more than 330 designated Supervalu and Centra stores nationwide where patrons can purchase their match tickets using either cash or a card.”
“There are currently 15 stores available across Kilkenny and Carlow for people to purchase tickets to the Allianz Leagues. At present, the Supervalu store in Loughboy is one of the busiest in the country for the sale of tickets and we intend to make additions to the below list in the coming weeks.”
“The move to buy in advance all-ticket games has removed the issue of managing cash and its security from our volunteers on match days and we acknowledge the support that we have received from patrons in the move to this new system.”
