Carlow are Andrew Corden Cup Champions

From Carlow GAA Twitter

As we approach the 20th anniversary of Andrew Corden’s untimely death in an accident in May 2002, the Carlow Under 20 footballers bring the Andrew Corden Cup back to Barrowside.

The under 20 footballers last night bested Wexford in Enniscorthy on a scoreline of 1-12 to 2-10 with the goals coming from Oisin Doyle and Ronan Quinlan (On his 18th birthday!)

They redeemed themselves after losing to Wexford in the previous round, to come good in St. Patricks Park.

At halftime it was Wexford 6, with Carlow trailing by a point. The Carlow scores came from Bryan McMahon (0-2, 1f), Luke Ramsbottom, Anthony Keating, Mark Behan. On the 29th minute, Wexford went down to 14 men for 10 mins after Jack O’Leary from St. Fintans received a Black Card on 29 mins.

Wexford grabbed a goal with the last kick of the game but it’s not enough to deprive Carlow and see captain Mark Beehan lift the trophy.

Offaly or Louth are up next mid-April in the Leinster u20 quarter-final

Huge congratulations to Maurice Brown and his team
