There are two big games in the Champions League tonight with Liverpool and Man City both in action.

The Premier League title rivals will be hoping that league form carries through to European competition tonight for the first leg of their respective quarter-final fixtures.

Benfica are hosting Liverpool at the Stadium Of Light, a venue where Jurgen Klopp’s side have lost their last three European fixtures. The Portuguese have shown their ambition by dumping Ajax out of the first knock-out rounds but Liverpool’s performances in Europe this season – barring the Milan game last time out – have been ruthless.

In a group that featured Bayern and Barcelona, Benfica did well to qualify before going on to beat Ajax over two legs.

For Atlético Madrid, they make the trip to the Etihad to face a City side desperate for a Champions League trophy. They’ve already made sure Man United parted ways with the competition and won’t mind putting it up to the defending Premier League champions.

The Spanish side have won their last six games straight, including a 4-1 win over Alaves at the weekend and currently sit third in La Liga, behind Barcelona on goal difference albeit 12 points off the pace with Real Madrid coasting on the domestic front.

City shouldn’t have any concerns, their win over Burnley allowing more rest and rotation before this evening’s game.

Whatever the results tonight, both Liverpool and Man City will be hoping to get out of the game injury-free with a top of the table clash set for Sunday afternoon, a point separating the sides with eight games left to play.

Kick-off in both games is at 8pm.
