Carlow hurling roundup as Mount Leinster Rangers go two-for-two at senior

Catch up on the happenings in the Carlow senior and intermediate hurling championships over the weekend.

After round two of the J.J. Kavanagh & Sons Carlow senior hurling championship St. Mullins and Mt. Leinster Rangers are on their way for semi-final places, writes Tommy Murphy.

St. Mullins defeated Naomh Eoin on Sunday by 1-19 to 0-17 while Mount Leinster Rangers defeated Ballinkillen by 1-25 to 1-13 at Netwatch Cullen Park in the evening’s second game.

While on Friday evening, in a game featured live on KCLR and Scoreline.ie, Bagenalstown Gaels accounted for Naomh Brid 2-14 to 0-15 with the senior newcomers still on the hunt for a championship win.

Myshall are in the same boat while Ballinkillen and Bagenalstown Gaels have a win apiece.

Carlow senior hurling championship standings after round two

We move on to round three this weekend with Saturday afternoon sending Bagenalstown Gaels and St. Mullins to Netwatch Cullen Park for a 2pm throw-in.

It’s back to the park on Sunday for two games with Ballinkillen and Naomh Bríd throwing in at 1pm while Mount Leinster Rangers and Naomh Eoin meet at 6.30pm, both of those games live on KCLR and Scoreline.ie

Intermediate

In the Intermediate hurling championship, there were wins for St. Mullins, Naomh Eoin and Mount Leinster Rangers over the weekend.

It’s two wins on the bounce for both Saint Mullins and Myshall with ‘Rangers getting their first two points on the board after defeat last time out.

Poc Fada

Clara’s Killian Whelan and Naomh Eoin’s Brian Tracey will represent their Kilkenny and Carlow in the hurling senior All-Ireland Poc Fada finals in the Cooley Mountains on the August bank holiday weekend.

And in Camogie Tracey McNally from the Naomh Brid Camogie Club will represent Carlow.
