It has been hectic inside KCLR in the build-up to the All Ireland Final matchup between Kilkenny and Limerick.

Ex-players are scattered around the building, non-sport fans are decked out in black and amber while business are sending their best wishes towards the Cats.

One of the recent guests in the studio has been none other then Kilkenny All Star and current Offaly manager, Michael Fennelly. The Shamrocks man joined Sue Nunn to about his documentary, “The turning of the tide”, which has aired last week and this week on KCLR.

The Documentary looks back on the 1967 All-Ireland senior hurling championship final. That game, which saw Kilkenny come through a hard-fought battle against arch-rivals Tipperary still stands out in the minds of players, experts, and lovers of the game as a unique, seminal fixture in the history of Kilkenny hurling.

While in the studio we had to get the thoughts of a man who has been in many All Ireland final parades. It is not everyday you can get the insight of an intercounty player and manager given his perspective ahead of such a crucial game.

“I am hoping for a really big performance this weekend. To give these Limerick boys hell. Throw the Kitchen sink at them. I think it is in them.”

“Limerick are hot favorites. Everything is there for Limerick. One thing Limerick has in terms of motivation The 2019 Semi Final, when Kilkenny caught them and if Kilkenny did not beat them that day they would be going for five in a row.”

“Now they are going for three in a row, and if Kilkenny could stop them, that would be very sweet.”

“No better group. Every team and every manager knows Kilkenny is the one team you do not want to play.”
