Move over Tom Cruise, there’s a new Top Gun in town.

With the dust beginning to settle on this year’s All-Ireland senior hurling championship – though the celebrations will continue in both Limerick and Kilkenny for the coming days – one Kilkenny player has come out top of the heap in this year’s scoring charts.

He may have been on the wrong side of the result on Sunday evening but Kilkenny’s TJ Reid has finished the first half of the year as the championship’s top scorer, adding 2-65 to his account, or 71 points in total.

The Ballyhale Shamrocks man knocked over nine points in Sunday’s defeat to Limerick, all from frees, to send him eight points clear of Galway’s Conor Cooney on 1-60.

All-Ireland winners Limerick had two players in this year’s top ten, Aaron Gillane on 3-47 and Diamuid Bynes on 0-36. Reid is the only representative from Kilkenny on the list.

Here’s how the list looks…
