All roads lead to Annaverna and the Cooley Mountains this bank holiday Monday as the 2022 GAA Poc Fada competition, the 62nd running of the competition, comes to a close.
Kilkenny and Carlow will have representation on Monday with Carlow county goalkeeper Brian Treacy and Calara’s Killian Phelan contesting the senior hurling contest while Lisdowney’s Noelle Murphy will be flying the flag for Kilkenny on the senior camogie front.

How do I get to the Poc Fada finals?
It’s a bit of a trek, but if you’ve never been to the finals or a Poc Fada competition previously, it’s a unique experience. Here’s how to get to Annaverna Mountain this Monday.
- From Kilkenny/Carlow, head for Dublin on the M9, M7 and go north on the M50 at the Red Cow, continuing through to the M1.
- Using M1 travelling northbound towards Dundalk / Belfast, take Junction 18 for N52 Dundalk (North), Carlingford and enter the roundabout.
- Take 4th exit towards Dundalk N52 & (R132) Ravensdale and cross over the the motorway.
- Enter roundabout and take 1st exit R132 Ravensdale.
- Travel approx 2.5km and move to the right turning lane for Ravensdale.
- Follow this road for approx 1.5km to T Junction and take left onto R174 following Poc Fada signage.
- Travel approx 1/2km and turn right into the road leading to Annaverna Mountain.
- Continue to follow Poc Fada signage to the designated car park
There’s a half-hour walk in it, or a 4×4 service that takes about 15 minutes to get to the competition area.
