Tullaroan 2-16
Erin’s Own 0-13
Tullaroan showed their class when it mattered most in Freshford on Saturday night as they eased past Erin’s Own in the opening round of the St Canice’s Credit Union Senior Hurling League.
Neither side could be separated in the opening 20 minutes as they exchanged some fine scores with last year’s relegation finalists leading by a single point, Erin’s Own 0-05 to 0-04 Tullaroan.
However, as is so often the case, a goal changed the course of this encounter with Kilkenny player Martin Keoghan firing to the back of the net to give his team a lead that they would relinquish on just the one occasion from thereon in.
Niall Rigney’s side pulled level with a cluster of points but the 2021 semi finalists began to move through the gears close to half-time as they took a deserved three-point advanatage into the interval, Erin’s Own 0-08 to 1-08 Tullaroan.
Tullaroan made their move in the final quarter following a highly competitive game up to that point as they notched on four consecutive points before Jim Moore grabbed the second goal of the game to all but end an entertaining contest.

Both sides ran through the motions throughout the latter stages with the outcome a foregone conclusion following Moore’s goal and Ken Coogan’s men could eventually celebrate an first round defeat of their opponents by a margin of nine points.
Erin’s Own will be hoping to bounce back when they take on Lisdowney on Friday night while Tullaroan have a clash with Clara to look forward to the next evening.
