Premier League : The Who, What, When and Where of Matchday 24

Last week saw the postponement of match week seven in the premier league due to the passing of The Queen.

This week will see seven fixtures going ahead with three unable to happen due to policing issues. So let’s look ahead at all the actions

Friday sees Aston Villa coming off a well-earned point against Champions Manchester City. Now, will momentum carry is the question, especially considering last weekend’s postponements? Southampton needs to bounce back after their loss to Wolves last time out, but with Villa only winning one game in their last ten, they may not have much to fear. Elsewhere tonight Fulham and Nottingham Forest, the two newly promoted sides, meet for the very first time in the Premier League. The last time they met in the top flight was back in 1968.

On Saturday Man City travel to Wolves for the early kickoff. Wolves have only conceded four times in six games, but Man City have scored 20 fo far, and with an inform Erling Haaland, you can expect that to change. Newcastle take on Bournemouth at home, with Eddie Howe really needing to kick the Magpies season into gear, seven points from the opening six games is not good enough for the lofty ambitions his owners have. Antonio Conte will hope to compound Brendan Rodgers misery when Spurs take on bottom placed Leicester. You have to have some sense of sorrow for how Leicesters season is turning out, losing star players every year since their famous league win, is not a recipe set for success.

Only two games then for the Sunday. Two london teams matcup with top placed Arsenal travelling to play Brentford. Mikel Artetas side will be straching his head after his sides singular defeat to Manchester Unite, and will be gunning to bounce back with a win. Everton v West Ham rounds off the weekend, with either side failing to inspire so far this season.
