Despite four goals, Paul O’Brien believes Mount Leinster Rangers should have been more convincing winners against Bagenalstown Gaels

The opening game last weekend in the Carlow senior football championship was full of goals.

Mount Leinster Ranger put four in the back of the onion net while Bagenalstown Gaels hit it twice. In the end, Rangers came out victorious on a scoreline of 4-09 to 2-11.

After the game, Mount Leinster Ranger’s manager Paul O’Brien was speaking to the scoreline and outlined how he believed his side should have won by more

“We were far better than Bagenalstown if truth be told and should have been way more than four points up than we were at the end. It was more of our mistakes than anything Bagenalstown were doing, that kept them in the game. Thankfully we got a few more goals than them.”

“We would not be happy with some of the things we did with the ball and we just have go up to Borris (for training) and try to get things right.”

Mount Leinster Rangers now can look forward to a semi-final against Tinryland in our Sunday matchup which throws in from 3.45 pm.
