There were mixed results for the local teams in J1 Leinster League action over the weekend.
In Division 1B, Carlow proved far too strong for Longford as they returned to Barrowside with an impressive 9-25 victory.
Tullow were unable to continue their good start to the campaign as Athy narrowly defeated them.
Tries from James Smith and Ciaran Fennessy (2) along with three successful conversions and a penalty from Craig Miller gave the Kildare outfit a 24-19 win.
The result does see Tullow claim a losing bonus point, however.
Kilkenny’s Division 1A tie with Monkstown in Foulkstown was a one-sided affair that went against the home team as they suffered a 7-27 defeat.
Their next outing sees them travel to Boyne in three weeks time.
The Kilkenny women’s team maintained their winning start in Division 4 with a routine 25-7 defeat of Wanderers, while Tullow lost 55-7 away to Railway.
