Kilkenny’s Ellen Molloy has long been marked as a player to watch and one whose star is on the rise.
Barely with the leaving cert in the rear-view mirror, Molloy has already featured extensively for Ireland’s underage ranks and women’s national team while at Wexford Youths she was instrumental in the club’s FAI Women’s Cup success last year.
Unfortunately for Molloy, a long-term injury ruled her out of the remainder of Ireland’s World Cup qualifying campaign last month and likely means she’ll miss the plane to Australia and New Zealand next summer.
While rehab continues on her knee over the coming months, Molloy is the latest to feature in the FAI’s Club & Country series which, if you’ve got three minutes to spare, you should watch below. Here, she talks about her beginnings with Thomastown and the Kilkenny Gaynor Cup team (who she captained to a win in 2015), linking up with Wexford Youths, making her international debut and more.
