The wait is nearly over: St. Mullins clash with Ferns this Sunday on KCLR

From Carlow GAA

After 14 weeks, The Carlow Senior Hurling champions St. Mullins will be back out in action this weekend.

The county turned their attention to football after the county hurling championship ended, but now a Leinster clash awaits against the Wexford Champions, Ferns St. Aidans, who themselves are in a similar position themselves.

St. Mullins manager Maurice Alyward told scoreline why he doesn’t enjoy the long wait;

“I have to say it’s my first time facing anything like this. Most teams I have been involved with have been Kilkenny teams, so once you win a county final, you’re straight away within a week or two you’re into the club championship, there’s no rest. This is a different setup.

“I do not think that is a good thing. If you take last year’s Wexford or Carlow county final. They were both at the same time and had a huge wait and both were well beaten in the club championship. “

“It is something we have had to look at and see how we manage it.”

You can listen to the AIB Leinster Club senior hurling championships quarter-final of St. Mullins v Ferns St. Aidan’s from 2pm at Netwatch Cullen Park on our Carlow frequency this Sunday with thanks to Blanchfield’s Pub in St Mullins
