Kilkenny 26
Seapoint 8
Kilkenny secured a pivotal victory in Division 1A of the Leinster League in Foulkstown on Saturday afternoon.
It has been a difficult campaign for the 2022 Towns Cup champions so far, with difficulties away from home proving costly.
However, they maintained their strong home form with a bonus point win against Seapoint in tough conditions.
The hosts had a strong start as a turnover in midfield led to the opening try of the game that was duly converted.
Seapoint responded with a try of their own soon after but a penalty try and a rolling maul try gave Kilkenny a deserved 21-8 lead at the interval.
A scrappy second half looked like it would end without a score for either side.
However, a last minute try for Kilkenny could be worth its weight in gold at the end of the season as they got the all-important fourth try to add five points to the league table.
Tomorrow, Tullow welcome Kildare to the Blackgates with kick-off in that Division 1B tie set for 2.30pm
