If you were planning on hitting the road to Croke Park this weekend to see Ballyhale Shamrocks in another Leinster club senior hurling final, you may need to leave a little earlier.
The GAA have confirmed (Tuesday) that the Kilkenny champions’ provincial showdown with Kilmacud Crokes has been swapped with the Dublin side’s football final against The Downs, possibly to allow dual stars like Brian Sheehy to feature in both games.
That means Pat Hoban’s side will take to the field at 2.30pm on Sunday afternoon with the senior football final following at 4.30pm. Tickets are available locally from Centra and SuperValu outlets with no match-day sales available at Croke Park.
Ballyhale booked their passage to a fourth consecutive Leinster decider with a run-of-the-mill win over Naas last weekend, run-of-the-mill at least for the second half with the Kildare champions giving Shamrocks something of a scare in the first half.
Kilmacud Crokes have a chance of making history this weekend too with the club’s ladies’ football side already having won their own senior provincial football title, albeit losing out in the All-Ireland semi-final stages last weekend. Few clubs have had three sides if ever, contest three senior Leinster deciders in one season.
We’ll be live from Croke Park this Sunday afternoon at 2.30pm for all the action with thanks to Gerry Comerford Drilling Ltd.
