Mount Leinster Rangers and Eire Og will contest the final of the Stryve U20 ‘A’ Carlow Football Championship following their respective victories in Friday’s semi-finals.
Rangers had to battle back from behind at half-time to secure a 4-09 to 1-08 win over Rathvilly in the Training Centre in Fenagh.
In a tight and cagey opening period, Rathvilly’s slightly superior shot selection and execution gave them the narrowest of leads at the interval, Rathvilly 0-06 to 0-05 Mount Leinster Rangers.
However, Mount Leinster Rangers showed their class under the lights after the break as they picked off their opponents in a half that brought with it four goals for the men in red and black.
Their ruthless finishing saw them deservedly seal a 10-point victory and progress to the decider.
Eire Og await in the final after their 2-14 to 0-08 defeat of Bagenalstown Gaels in the last-four.
In similar fashion to the other semi-final, the first half was a tight affair with only a point separating the sides after 30 minutes, Eire Og 1-04 to 0-06 Bagenalstown Gaels.
It was the increased intensity levels and proficiency that proved crucial in the second half for Eire Og as they added a second goal and a cluster of points to deservedly come out on top by 12 points.
Earlier in the week, Michael Davitts were in fine form as they disposed of Asca on a scoreline of 4-13 to 0-08 in the ‘B’ semi-final.
They will now take on Naomh Eoin in the final.
