Kilkenny are out in action for the opening tie in the National hurling League this weekend

They travel to Belfast to take on Antrim, and speaking ahead of the game Two Time All Ireland winner and KCLR Analyst who has a birdeye view of all the games, says their is definitely a change of style in the way Derek Lyng has the Cats playing

Carlow are also opening their campaign at 2 on Saturday against Kildare.

One man who should be lining out for Tom Mullaleys side is Conor Kehoe, after being named on the 2023 panel yesterday

The St. Mullins man was crucial in DCU’s win over SETU Carlow last night in the Fitzgibbon Cup.

An injury-time goal helped DCU to a one-point victory, in a game where Kilkenny captain Eoin Cody managed an impressive 1-12 of SETU’s 1-19.

There were plenty of players from Kilkenny and Carlow involved last night, and both teams now advance to the quarter-finals.

There is a big night in store for James Stephens tonight.

They are in Langtons, where Ken Doherty takes on some local favorites, including Jackie Tyrrell, Eoin Larkin, and camogie star Sophie O’Dwyer.

Big congratulations to Elena Byrne, a regular guest on Scoreline who has been awarded GAA President’s Awards

The awards are a cross-section of people who have shared the common theme of making an inspirational impact on their code and also their club and community.

Elena has been a driving force in bringing Ladies Gaelic Gaelic Football to her club Dunamaggin and county.

SOCCER

Second half goals from Anthony Martial and Fred secured Manchester United’s place in this month’s Carabao Cup final.

They beat Nottingham Forest by 2-goals to nil in the second leg of their semi-final last night at Old Trafford.

United won the tie 5-nil on aggregate, and will play Newcastle at Wembley on the 26th of this month.

Celtic maintained their nine-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership with a 3-nil win against Livingston.

Rangers ensured the gap didn’t get any bigger following a 3-nil victory of their own over third placed Hearts.

Aberdeen’s struggles continued as they suffered a 3-1 defeat at home to St Mirren.

BOXING

Katie Taylor will have her first professional fight on Irish soil in May.

Her promoter Eddie Hearn says Taylor’s homecoming is likely to happen at Dublin’s 3 Arena instead of Croke Park.

Hearn claims the cost of staging a card at GAA H-Q is three times more expensive than Wembley Stadium.

Taylor’s likely opponent on May 20th will be Amanda Serrano, but that depends on the Puerto Rican beating Erika Cruz on Saturday.

Rugby

Stuart McCloskey looks set to continue at inside centre for Ireland’s Six Nations opener away to Wales on Saturday.

The Ulster centre appears to have beaten off competition from Bundee Aki and Jamie Osborne for the right to partner Garry Ringrose in Cardiff.

McCloskey started all three of Ireland’s wins during the autumn.

Coach Andy Farrell confirms his matchday squad later today.

Elsewhere there was a big performance from SETU Carlows men rugby division 1 team

They travelled to face T-U-S Midwest in coming out on top 55-15 in a physical game.

They now played Feburary 15th against TUD
