“It is a work in progress” Eight-time All-Ireland winner Aidan Fogarty believes it will take time to bed change for Kilkenny

Eight-time All-Ireland winner Aidan Fogarty has been telling KCLR that it was the fundamentals that let Kilkenny down in Sunday’s hurling league defeat to Tipperary.

Kilkenny slipped to a six-point defeat to Liam Cahill’s side at UPMC Nowlan Park but will meet again this weekend in aid of the Dillon Quirke Foundation.

Speaking to Martin Quilty on last evening’s Full Time, Fogarty says for some of Kilkenny’s play, it’s a work in progress.

“It was the fundamentals that let him (Derek Lyng) down, and that’s what he will be disappointed with. Everyone thought the short game, doesn’t suit Kilkenny and all that. But last year in the All Ireland, if we had a short game or puck out tactic, we possibly could have won the All Ireland. “

“He has to work on these things through the league.”

“It is a work in progress. Brian (Cody) kind of brought it in (Short game) toward the end of his tenure as manager, and Derek will bring it onto another level.”
