Manchester United have appointed David Harrison as their new Director of Football Operations.

He joins from Everton, where he held the same role and has been at the club for a total of 27 years.

John Murtough, United’s Football Director, has said this of the appointment

“David is known as one of the most able and respected operators in football and we are delighted that he has chosen to join Manchester United. He will bring deep experience and knowledge to this important role, and add further strength to the support structure we are building around our football teams, to give our players and staff the best chance of success.”

Harrison actually started his career at Uniteds ticket offices, way back in 1995.

The news comes comes of the back of The Red Devils being made available for a potential sale with having until 10pm to make their bid for the Premier League club.

The Qatari royal family are expected to be among those to submit an offer.

British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe, along with investors from the USA and Saudi Arabia are also thought to be interested.

On the field last night, United played out an entertaining 2-all draw with Barcelona at the Nou Camp. Marcus Rashford came out after the game and said he’s “confused” why he wasn’t awarded a penalty in their 2-all draw with Barcelona in the Europa League.

The England forward scored his 22nd goal of the season to leave their play-off tie for a place in the last-16 finely poised going into the second leg, but Rashford felt he was clearly fouled while United were leading 2-1.

It means their Europa League play-off round tie is finely poised ahead of the second leg at Old Trafford next week.
