With the league well and truly behind us, it’s time for the real business to begin this weekend.
Kilkenny’s defence of their Leinster championship crown kicks off on Saturday evening in UPMC Nowlan Park as they host Westmeath at 6pm.
History will be made at the home of Kilkenny GAA as the Cats take to the pitch for a championship clash without Brian Cody as manager for the first time since 1998.
New boss Derek Lyng will be hoping that his side can bounce back from a disappointing league final defeat to Limerick as their hopes of ending an eight-year wait for an All-Ireland title get underway.
We’ll have live commentary of that game from 6pm on KCLR with Adrian Ronan and two-time All-Ireland winning goalkeeper Michael Walsh calling the action with thanks to Laharts.

The curtain raiser in UPMC Nowlan Park on Saturday sees the Kilkenny U20 team conclude the round-robin phase of their Leinster championship venture when they go head-to-head with Dublin.
Following their defeat of Galway in the second round, victory for Mark Dowling’s charges could see them advance to the semi-finals.

Just after 2pm, we’ll be hearing Scoreline’s full interview with former Westmeath and Waterford manager Michael Ryan who looks ahead to Kilkenny and Westmeath’s meeting as well as giving his verdict on both the Leinster championship and Munster championship.
Carlow’s unbeaten record in the Joe McDonagh Cup is on the line on Saturday as they play host to Laois in a crucial third round fixture.
Victory for Tom Mullally’s side would see them move three points clear of their opponents and take a big step towards a place in the final later this year.
We’ll be live from Netwatch Cullen Park from 3pm with Brendan Hennessy and Terence Kelly on commentary.
The GAA action comes to an end on Sunday as the Kilkenny minors enter the knockout phase of the Leinster championship.
Niall Bergin’s team make the trip to Kilcormac to take on champions Offaly in a highly anticipated quarter-final.
