Speaking after the game, Galway boss Henry Shefflin reserved praise for his former side;
“They probably figured out our puck-outs a little bit, they got on top of the half backline, and in that middle third they really dominated.”
“They are so strong in the air, any of those aerial duels if they were not winning they were very dangerous off it. I thought we were a bit sloppy with the ball, every time we turned it over it was in a central zone and Kilkenny punished us then.”
“We are probably happy to get the point, at half time we were in a very good position and did not finish it out. So that is something to work on. Some of our wides in the second half, I would not be happy with as there were players in better positions.”
Elsewhere in the Leinster Championship, Wexford picked up their first win with a 1-30 to 1-26 defeat of Antrim at Wexford Park. Dublin had too much for Westmeath, winning by 2-23 to 1-14.
