Carlow native Padraig Amond has been named as Woking Supporters’ Player of the Year for the 2022/23 season.
Woking finished fourth in the Vanarama National League this season, 29 points off record-breaking Wrexham to secure a playoff position. Amond played all bar one league game for Woking this season and in the process notched up his 700th professional football appearance. He also featured in their playoff defeat to Bromley in the quarter-finals. This season marked the first time ever that Woking had qualified for the promotion playoffs.
The 35-year-old moved to Woking ahead of the 2022/23 season, making his debut in a 2-0 defeat to York City to open the campaign and open his goal account – the first of 12 for the season – with a free kick against Southend in this year’s FA Cup. He also registered 11 assists in the league this season.
Among other winners announced on Monday were Jim Kellerma, named Players’ Player of the Season, Dan Moss who picked up Young Player of the Season while Rohan Ince was awarded Goal of the Season for his strike against Dorking Rovers in a 2-1 away win in April. Ince, nephew of former Liverpool and Man United midfielder Paul Ince, was included in Woking’s retained list on Monday afternoon having been offered a new deal in advance of his current contract expiry. Amond remains under contract with Woking.
Woking announced on Monday that their pre-season fixtures over the summer will include trips to Stratford Town, Welling United and Havant & Waterlooville with more fixtures to be announced in due course.
