Caelan Doris, Jenny Murphy, Scott Penny and Aoife Dalton were the big winners on Sunday night as Leinster Rugby held their end-of-season awards ball in Dublin on Sunday night.
The awards include the end-of-season player and club awards which saw Caelon Dorris and Jenny Murphy named the Bank of Ireland Men and Women’s Players of the Year recipients for 2023.
Scott Penny (men’s) and Aoife Dalton (women’s) took home Young Player of the Year awards.
Former Leinster and Ireland head coach Gerry Murphy was inducted into the Guinness Hall of Fame while Carlow Rugby Club’s Rachael O’Brien was acknowledged “for stellar contributions ot the game of rugby in Leinster” and “her tireless efforst on behalf of the game in Carlow, in Leinster and now on the IRFU Executive.”
On the junior rugby front, Mullingar were named overall club of the year.
Garry Ringrose took home two awards on Sunday night including the Irish Times Try of the Year for his score against Racing 92 and the overall BDO Supporters Player of the Year.
Ahead of Sunday night, Billy Murphy (UCD) succeeded outgoing president Debbie Carty as the 103rd President of the Leinster Branch. Declan Gardiner of Blackrock RFC was voted incoming Senior Vice President, as Moira Flahive of Dublin University FC were both voted as Junior Vice President and will see the second female president of the branch in the 2025/26 season.
