James Stephen’s Cian Kenny is looking forward to preparing for an All-Ireland semi-final.

The Cats ensured a straight route to the semi-final after their dramatic Leinster final victory over Galway. A late Cillian Buckley goal secured Derek Lyngs first piece of silverware in his first year as Kilkenny boss.

The Cats now await the winners of Dublin and Clare, after the Dubs bested Carlow in the preliminary series. On the other side of the draw the defending All Ireland champions Limerick will play the winners of Tipperary and Galway.

So all in all Kilkenny have earned themselves a total of four weeks off between games, and while Derek Lyng certainly welcomed the time off when previously speaking to scoreline, the versatile Cian Kenny does assure KCLR the Leinster champions won’t be resting on their laurels;

“Just get the recovery and if there are injuries there, we get them cleared out the way and then we’ll go out hard each other. Then we look forward to the All-Ireland Semi-finals because that’s where you want to be really at the end of the day. You’re only one game away from an All-Ireland final and that’s where everyone wants to be. “

“If you want to be winning an All Ireland Final you have to be putting everything into it every day. That’s what it’s all about. It’s great as well it’s not a chore or anything like that. You are around the people you play with the last few years, you’re around people with the same goal every day. So look, we’re all buzzing now, to be honest with you. “
